Cancer Scholarship Opportunities for Students
Spreading awareness, offering education, and supporting those with cancer are of imperative importance in today’s world. Students can help bring awareness to lung cancers and mesotheliomas while helping to pay for their education by applying to the upcoming scholarships below.
Mesothelioma Hub Scholarship Initiative
While mesothelioma rarely affects those at college age, spreading awareness of rare diseases should still be on young people’s radar. Asbestos affects many people, including veterans and first responders. The carcinogen is also in older classrooms and dorms on college campuses.
Mesothelioma Hub is proud to offer one student a scholarship of $1,000. The Mesothelioma Hub Scholarship is available to any student at least 18 years old and enrolled in a U.S. school. Students should write an essay that brings awareness to mesothelioma or asbestos. If applicable, they may also choose to share a personal experience with mesothelioma cancer.
The new Mesothelioma Hub Scholarship deadline is January 15, 2022.
NCCF Survivor Program
The National Collegiate Cancer Foundation provides support and services to young adults affected by cancer. NCCF is committed to providing need-based financial help to young cancer survivors.
The non-profit offers a scholarship opportunity for cancer patients or cancer survivors ages 18-35. Students who share their cancer journey in an essay are eligible for a $1,000 award. NCCF also offers a scholarship for students who have lost a parent to cancer.
Visit the NCCF scholarship page for more information and other opportunities available. The deadline for this scholarship is July 15, 2022.
Faith Hope and Love Jesus, Inc. College Scholarship
Faith Hope and Love Jesus, Inc. raises awareness about childhood blood disorders, cancers, and survivorship. The non-profit organization is offering $500 to one student affected by a blood disorder or cancer. Due to the topic being on any subject of your choosing, Faith Hope and Love Jesus Inc. states this is the “easiest 500-word essay in the world.”
The deadline for this scholarship opportunity is May 1, 2022. To apply, visit their website here.
Other Financial Resources for Lung Cancer Patients and Families
Lung cancer treatment, medications, and care can become very expensive, very fast. There are many financial resources available for families affected by lung cancer. Pharmaceutical companies, non-profit charities, and the government offer help to those in need.
If you or a family member have been diagnosed with asbestos-related lung cancer or mesothelioma, you may have legal options to help with your financial burdens.
